The City of Mexico City was looking at some serious sewer pipe replacement costs for their main sewer line.  Over the years the degradation of the concrete was severe and their options were seriously limited.

The 18 foot diameter pipe took all the sewage from Mexico City to their treatment plant.  If you can, imagine that everything gets thrown into this system.  Cars, trash, bodies, and it’s all floated out to the Gulf of Mexico through 40 miles of piping.  No, they don’t have wastewater treatment plants…..yet.

Mexico City decided that a protective coating was going to be needed to keep their state of the art system from further deteriorating.  They invited four coatings manufacturers to come apply about a mile of material each for a two year test.  Upon the completion of the test Belzona was chosen for its outstanding performance.  The program is a 10 year/4 miles a year program during the dry season.
